GHRH Analog (Trans-3-hexenoic acid)
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) stabilized with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification that extends its half-life relative to native GHRH. It stimulates pulsatile GH secretion from the anterior pituitary and has been studied for its effects on IGF-1 elevation and visceral adipose tissue reduction. An FDA-approved form (Egrifta) is used for HIV-associated lipodystrophy, making it a well-characterized research tool in GH axis and metabolic studies.
Research Benefits
Documented areas of investigation based on peer-reviewed preclinical and clinical literature. For research reference only.
Promotes natural, pulsatile growth hormone release from the anterior pituitary.
Supports insulin-like growth factor-1 production for downstream anabolic signaling.
Studied for effects on lean mass, adipose tissue, and metabolic rate in research models.
Investigated for bone mineral density support in GH-deficient preclinical models.
Literature
FDA-approved (Egrifta) for HIV-associated lipodystrophy — well-characterized GH axis tool
Significant visceral adipose tissue reduction in Phase 3 clinical trials (Falutz et al., 2010)
Sustained IGF-1 elevation without disrupting normal pulsatile GH secretion patterns
Improved lipid profiles and trunk fat reduction observed in metabolic research models
