Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) stabilized with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification that extends its half-life relative to native GHRH. It stimulates pulsatile GH secretion from the anterior pituitary and has been studied for its effects on IGF-1 elevation and visceral adipose tissue reduction. An FDA-approved form (Egrifta) is used for HIV-associated lipodystrophy, making it a well-characterized research tool in GH axis and metabolic studies.
